Top Notch Movers

If you want to work with a moving company who is with you every step of the way, then Top Notch is NOT for you. Our experience was so reprehensible that we are now dealing with an insurance company and a lawyer to explore next steps.

The initial impression of the company was stellar. We had a 2-part move where items had to be picked up from our house and a storage unit in FL and then delivered to an apartment and storage unit in PA. We were organized in labeling our contents (“apartment” or “storage”) and the packing team, under Tony’s leadership, packed the Top Notch truck with great organization and a customer-focused attitude.

The delivery was a nightmare. The first stop was to meet the movers at the storage unit. The driver arrived an hour late in a completely different, nasty truck that had been packed, with no lift/ramp and no helpers. We were never told that our move was going to be subcontracted, or that our items had been transloaded because the truck broke down, or that the driver would arrive alone. The subcontractor appears to have been Lodestone Logistics out of NY.

When the driver realized he could not move our furniture and boxes on his own, he left to go pick up helpers from Home Depot. We were enraged to think all our possessions would now be handled by random guys who were not background checked and who were going to be paid under the table. After waiting another hour for the driver to return, we left. All along, there were many phone calls with Top Notch and the sub-contractor to deal with this disaster. While sitting in the car, we even sent an email to owner Hen Segal who didn’t reply for 5 days. In the end, we agreed to meet the driver the next day at 7am.

The next day, we received a text that the jalopy had broken down. When we called, the driver had no access to roadside assistance, so we drove to his hotel and helped the driver jumpstart the truck. Once that ordeal was over, the driver had to go pick up “contract” workers to help with the unloading. Another delay.

When the driver finally arrived, we saw that all our meticulously labeled/organized goods were completely jumbled in this crappy truck and nearly half of our stuff was water damaged because the roof had leaked. After a bunch of intense phone calls between Top Notch and the sub-contractor, it was required that we pay full price for the move or the driver was going to leave with our contentsàransom! Sebastian (an alleged part-owner of Top Notch) told us that after the move, we could discuss a refund. Sebastian verbally indicated that, based on the atrocious experience, they would end up not making any money on the job. We, under duress, agreed to pay the final balance even though we had no reason to believe the company would do anything that was in our best interest since they put us in a situation where Home Depot dudes would handle our life’s possessions out of disgusting truck that leaked all over stuff. In the end, the move was completed, but not without tears and arguments. Knowing that the driver and helpers were caught in the misfire, we did still tip them for their hard work.

We called the next day. Sebastian informed us they had to wait for the final paperwork before he could discuss next steps. He also told us that we should take down the poor reviews we had posted to demonstrate that we want to cooperate with them. This felt like extortion, but we succumbed and took down the reviews. We called again in a few days, but Sebatian is not available. We left messages. We called and waited each day. And the next. Twice we spoke to a customer service person who stated she would have refunded us half of our money to avoid bad reviews. We also spoke to Mark who stated he would have Sebastian call us. In the end, Sebastian sent a cowardly email stating that “operations” felt they fulfilled their contract and offered us a mere 10% refund. On a $6200 move, that’s an insulting $629. We did not accept this offer and here we are. So many opportunities for Top Notch to demonstrate customer service but they had zero professionalism to do so.

DO NOT HIRE THESE THIEVES. My move was horrible, many items lost,stolen, damaged. They will not work to resolve their mistakes. They lie, will take your money, but not honor their contract. They did not pick up or deliver on time. They did not put my items where contracted, a first floor no stairs outside storage. they unloaded off truck, I had to hire someone to take it from there. My items still missing and damaged, they have not reimbursed and now I have to hire an attorney . Poor communications after they took my money. My items were apparently stolen by them, as they have not made any attempt to find them. Top Notch movers out of Florida are scammers, DO NOT USE THEM.

Service cost: $3500

I made the mistake of choosing Top Notch Movers for a recent move from Stuart to Fort Lauderdale. I chose Top Notch because of their high ratings and competitive price. I coordinated the move​ ​for last Thursday between 10 am and 12 pm. I verified the date and time the day before the move which Top Notch confirmed. On the day of the move, I received a call from a representative that the pick up would be closer to 12 pm because they are “adding another stop”. The movers didn’t show up until 2:10 pm. By the time they finished loading the truck, it was 3:40 which meant they would be stuck in rush hour traffic on the way to Fort Lauderdale. The movers arrived at 6:30 pm due to rush hour traffic. Before they would off load the truck, Andre, one of the movers, required that I pay. I had no issue however they added on “extra charges”. I was originally quoted $595 for the move. Top Notch Movers extras added up to a total of $964.59 which included an additional 3% charge for credit card use that was never mentioned before and buried in their contract! It is illegal in the state of Florida to charge additional fees for the use of a credit card. When I complained, I was told the additional charges were due to rush hour traffic and I would have to speak to Francine, a company representative, the next day if I wanted a credit. When the mover sensed my frustration, he credited $119. Did he realize that they were wrong? If the movers did not take on additional job, they would have arrived on time and not encountered rush hour traffic. The credit, however, is not enough to compensate for the discrepancy in the quote. Our $595 move ended up costing $900. Top Notch they’re not. I would strongly recommend to stay away from Top Notch Movers and choose someone else.

Move size: Studio Service cost: $900

First time using Top Notch Moving, first time moving away from home. I must say the fears started to go away when the salesman Clarence came to my house on time and the fact that I wasn't there, as he met my sister. Others moving companies wanted my Audi A4 to be shipped separately from my house hold goods. Clarence informed me everything would be on the same truck loaded by a flat bed tow truck an off loaded the same way. I was very impressed with the price and the fact he was able to work within my budget plus the Driver and same crew delivered my car and household goods two days later. Happy isn't the best way to describe Top Notch Moving Solutions Inc. From start to finish A . I recommend Top Notch Moving Solutions Inc. These guys are thorough professionals. I have been paranoid about finding the right movers since I and my wife had a lot of stuff we had to get it right. Top Notch Movers send their best men to the job. They not only helped to organize and pack, they did an amazing job in transportation and unpacking. What could have been a nightmare but transformed into an amazing and friendly experience. Wonderful communication and extremely professional. Will recommend them to anyone for a hassle free moving.

Service cost: $900

There is no way that I will be able to move with any other company after experiencing the move with those fellas. Not only were they patient while I explained everything, but also listened to my instructions. I am very attached to my stuff and made sure that they were aware of that. That being said, everything was handled smoothly. The price was reasonable for summer. I couldn't find any other place that would help me get lower than the price that they offered. I liked how they called and confirmed the day before, that made me feel like they are really committed to my specific move. Overall a 10 out of 5 stars.

No words can fully describe the amount of professionalism that those workers had. This move could not have gone better. First they came to my house, smiled and let me know their process again. I could not have been more thanksful for this moving company, for they have been so patient with my chaotic life, and has definitely made it easier than it should be. I would definitely move with them again. My family and I were a little hesitant about this move, and to be honest, at first we chose them because of how affordable the price was. However, we soon realized that it the right choice, despite the price being cheap for the summer. This local move from northern Florida to Miami has been an absolute delight.

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $3500

My move was terrible. Late arrival. They refused to move our items from the truck to the single level outside entrance storage unit. My nephew had to move the items himself. They lost 8 boxes of special keepsakes and belongings. They put someone elses things with mine. This other person had to drive 6hrs each way to pick up her things, Top Notch lied and said they were sending help. They never looked for my things. I was not reimbursed ( they offered a total of $6.00). They did not even check items off of their own inventory list. Some items were damaged. Again, not reimbursed.I made numerous phone calls, not returned.

Move size: Partial Move Service cost: $3700

I moved from Boca to Wellington and looked up the best moving company. Top Notch Movers came up and I decided to give them a try. I was not disappointed! They came in and gave a reasonable quote and were on-time to help me move. Top Notch Movers took care of my stuff and the delivery went very smoothly with nothing damaged because of their careful wrapping of my furniture. They were very helpful and put my mind at ease through the whole process. I highly recommend Top Notch Movers to everyone!

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $650

This was my first time moving an entire apartment opposed to a minimally decorated room. I have quite a bit of stuff that’s been handed down to me, so I’m really sketchy about letting anyone else handle it. I found Top Notch on a recommendation, and I couldn’t be happier with the job they did. They were significantly quicker than I expected, and their customer service was wonderful throughout the entire experience. Every piece I was worried about arrived in perfect condition. I’d never use another moving company again. Thank you!

Moving is a nightmare, but there are still good people At this industry.

We hired movers before Top Notch Movers and they cancel on our move at the day of the move, we called several companies and no one could do the move at the same day.

Top Notch sells manager name Jackie told me they might do the move but it will be after 7:00pm!

Unbelievable! Those guys working around the clock. The office manager ( Henry ) showed up by 6:30 pm.. with 2 more movers and made it!

We are so happy, that nightmare done and the movers picked up all our goods before the lease end.

I would never believe that office manager will leave the office and come to save us, without Henry and his crew, we would finish our day with all our good on the street.

I highly recommend those movers.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $4000

It is almost comedic how terrible my experience with Top Notch Movers was. Worst experience I've ever had with any company. Not even worth the thousands of dollars I thought I would save by choosing a third-rate, amateur moving company like them. Something huge went wrong along every step of the way, and my move took a month longer than I thought it would.

They make all kinds of nice promises during sales and are very accommodating at that point, which only makes it more frustrating how bad the service is once you are under contract with them.

PICKUP:

When my pickup was scheduled, they gave me a 2-day window and said I would be contacted the day before (not much notice) with the exact pickup time for next day. I called the day before the pickup window began, and they told me since I hadn't heard, it must not be coming tomorrow. Lo and behold, movers show up unannounced at 8am the next day!

DELIVERY: I couldn't get any information for weeks about when my move would get delivered. I just needed to know so that I could prepare for them - I kept telling them it's okay if it comes later than expected, as long as they are straightforward with me. That is NOT what happened. They first gave me a 5-day (too big!) delivery window, again saying I would receive a call the day before with delivery time. 3 days into that delivery window, they completely changed their tune, saying it would now probably come like 2 weeks later (but they still didn't know). This was after me calling them multiple times per week to verify all the information. Upon delivery, they tried to charge me extra money from the estimate without even showing me how it shook out, and then threatened to store and redeliver again if I couldn't pay.

Just one more personal note that Francine, the agent with whom I spoke many times, always called me a "bother," even when I was just trying to get any information so that I could prepare to make the move-in EASIER for the moving company.

Absolutely horrifying experience.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2600

11:30 A.M 8/23 I'm presently dealing with the worst experience ever! Not only do I not have my furniture that was picked up in NJ on June 9th and should have been in Florida last week I'm getting no feedback. There is a 21 day delivery time in my contract which the company is still within but this is what has happened so far. The truck broke down somewhere in the Carolina's and they had to wait for a part. I was told I would get a call in which I did not! My wife called them days later to find out that we would have our items delivered Thursday (yesterday) or Friday (today) and would get a call the day before. Yet again, no call! We called last night at 6pm and spoke to someone who said they would find out and get back to us. Today 10:30 am no call! We call again to find out that the truck broke down again and are now waiting for more information.. The lack of communication is appalling! How do you tell your customers that you will be Thursday or Friday and never call to say you're not showing up?? Needless to say I work for a big company that moves a lot of employees and and this point, I will make sure they never use Top Notch. My wife, my 8 yr old and myself will presently be sleeping on an air mattress until further notice.

5:30 PM 8/23

Update: never received a call and yet again we needed to call the company. They can't tell us where the truck is and can just tell us we will get our items next week. That seems like an interesting thing to say. You can't tell me where the truck is but can tell me I'll get my personal belongings next week? We e-mailed the sales person who sold us this lovely service and he in turn told the dispatcher he will not call us back. So he won't get on the phone. He certainly knew how to get on the phone when selling us this service. Instead of calling us back this is the e-mail we received:

Unfortunately, I do not have any control or say when it comes to the trucks, drivers, dispatching or anything else in terms of operation. I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing difficulties in communicating with our company. Francine is the one who is handling deliveries and operations for long-distance jobs. I cannot talk on behalf of the dispatch or long-distance operations.

It is difficult to get the date from the mechanic shop to when they are going to fix the vehicle, so this is probably why Francine cannot promise you anything in particular.

Your pick-up date was on 08/09 of August, the first available date for the delivery was on August 15th.

By the law, the moving company must deliver your goods within a time frame of up to 21 business days from the day that you’ve requested to get your goods. It’s been only 7 days (not counting weekends). I spoke with Francine, and she assured me that the truck will be ready by the beginning of the week and they will be able to get it delivered to you mid of this coming week. She will keep you updated as I do not have any further information on my hands.

If delivered next week, It will be 10 business days or not more than 21 not business days from the time of the pick-up and not the first available date for the delivery.

Again, I do apologize for the miscommunication and technical issues with the vehicle provided by our company. I will send an e-mail to Francine and management asking to push the repairs and possibly getting your goods to you even faster.

I do hope some sort of management will contact me as we've asked several times to speak to someone in charge.
